In the wikipedia article, the concept of advertising to a mass market is defined as viral marketing, viral advertising, or even marketing buzz. They all mean the same thing, spreading brand awareness and promote a company or product. In order to achieve this awareness throughout society, there are often three criteria that need to be met: a messenger or way of communicating the second criteria, a strong message, and finally the environment where the message is spread. This is important because many environments require different strategies. Every criterion relies on the other in order to be successful.
