The article goes into excessive detail about how flawed first drafts always are. The entire first half goes on to explain that no one writes perfectly on their first draft and mistakes are not just understandable, but expected as they will be fixed with revisions and edits to make the paper flow better and argue the point better or illustrate the story with more clarity. I agree with this idea that second, third, etc. draft will be better than the original, but while the first draft obviously won't be perfect it doesn't mean you shouldn't try to achieve perfection. It just relieves the pressure on the writer that may prevent he/she from trying to begin because they fear they will not be as good as the published writers, but rather shows just how they go through the same struggles.
